Jonathan was promoted to his current position in August 2002, and is in his 10th season with the Albany River Rats and fifth with Capital District Sports Inc.’s arenafootball 2 franchise. He interned with the River Rats during the '97-'98 season before being named Director of Public Relations in August of 1999 and has held various roles in the Communications Department, including time as the club's Director of Communications during the 2001-02 campaign. Scherzer oversees the two franchises’ communications strategies in the areas of public and media relations, broadcasting, promotions and community relations. Prior to joining the Capital District Sports, Jonathan served as Office Manger with Fischler Hockey Services where he researched, edited, and conducted interviews for the production of numerous books, print articles and television feature segments for FOX SportsNet New York and the MSG Network. Jonathan also spent time as a Freelance Production Assistant for Fox and MSG where he served as liaison between the two networks and various NHL member clubs. His responsibilities also included recording and tabulating statistics for on-air use along with logging and editing feature video segments for New Jersey Devils broadcasts. He also worked on broadcasts for New York Islanders and the New Jersey Red Dogs of the Arena Football League. The 1998 State University at Albany graduate now lives in Delmar with his wife and son.
