Garen enters into his fifteenth season with the team and currently serves as President & CEO of Capital District Sports, Inc., which operates the Albany River Rats (AHL Hockey) and the Albany Firebirds (af2 Arena Football). Prior to being named President, he served as General Manager/CEO of the team from 1997 to1999. From 1993 to 1997 he was President of Lawrence General Group, a company that once operated the Albany River Rats. As President & CEO, Garen is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the organization including marketing, sales, public relations, and administration as well as the relations with the Times Union Center and Carolina Hurricanes. Garen and wife, Marcia, reside in Burnt Hills with their two sons, Ryan, and Timothy.
